One was critically injured when the Scorpio SUV they were traveling in crashed into a truck on the Agra-Lucknow state highway early this morning. The doctors, who were postgraduate trainees at Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai, were returning from a wedding in Lucknow when the accident occurred.
Around 3:30 AM, the SUV lost control, jumped over the road divider, and collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. Reports indicate that the driver dozed off while driving, leading to the tragic accident.
After the crash, the doctors were rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, five of them were declared dead. One of the doctors suffered serious head injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
The victims were identified as
Dr. Aniruddh Verma, Dr. Santosh Kumar Maurya, Dr. Jaiveer Singh, Dr. Arun Kumar, and Dr. Nardev.
Priyanka Bajpai, Circle Officer of Tirwa, reported, “Around 3:30 AM today, a Scorpio SUV traveling from Lucknow to Agra lost control on the state highway. The vehicle broke through the road divider and veered into the opposite lane, where it collided with a truck coming from the other direction. Tragically, five people in the SUV died at the scene, while one person, who suffered serious head injuries, is still under treatment.
All the victims were medical professionals or lab technicians at Saifai Hospital. The families have been informed, and a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.”
